There are various different approaches (or models) for outsourcing clinical activities; these include “full service” outsourcing, in which the entire clinical programme is performed by a single provider (e.g. CRO), but also “functional outsourcing” in which a number of Functional Service Providers (FSPs) perform specific activities only.
