Glossary Terms

A procedure to limit bias by preventing subjects and/or study personnel from identifying which treatments or procedures are administered, or from learning the results of tests and measures undertaken as part of a clinical investigation. NOTE: Masking, while often used synonymously with blinding, usually denotes concealing the specific study intervention used. The term masking is often preferred to blinding in the field of ophthalmology. (CDISC v 9.0)
