National authorisation procedures

The normal procedure for obtaining marketing authorisation for a medicinal product in a specific country. However, for countries in the European Union, the national authorisation procedure may only be followed in the case that the centralised procedure does not apply; the centralised procedure is mandatory for specific indications and diseases (e.g. AIDS, cancer, diabetes etc.).
